As a young solid-state physicist, Morteza Safai recognized the immense real-world potential of superconductors, particularly if materials could achieve superconductivity at higher temperatures.
Anticipating the growing demand for electrical power driven by expanding infrastructure and the rise of large-scale electrified vehicles, he dedicated himself to addressing the challenge of rapid charging. His work culminated in the development of a direct current superconductor fast charging system, secured through a multi-jurisdictional patent.
Morteza’s vision was to create a superconductor-based fast charging system that would be cost-effective, highly adaptable, and deployable across a wide range of power-intensive applications.
This innovation enables charging of virtually any powered system significantly faster than conventional methods.
The technology is protected under U.S. Patent No. 11,518,260, along with additional international patents.
In 2020, Morteza Safai left Boeing to found OhmFree (now associated with Rapid Charge Renewable Energy), with the goal of commercializing his patented invention.
